The 1473 Palazzo della Gherardesca and the 17th-century Palazzo del Nero, restored as a 121-key hotel in 2008 by Studio Noferi and Studio Magris with Pierre-Yves Rochon interiors. The 11-acre Giardino della Gherardesca behind the property is one of the largest private gardens in central Florence — fifteen minutes' walk from the Duomo. Paolo Lavezzini runs the kitchens (Onde, Il Palagio, Trattoria Al Fresco); the spa partners with Santa Maria Novella.
