François Catroux's posthumous 131-key Getsemaní conversion from April 2026 — a stitching-together of colonial structures including the 1920s Club Cartagena, a former church and a former theatre, with WATG architecture, Wimberly Interiors, AvroKO and Enea landscape filling the brief. Eight food and drink rooms anchored by Major Food Group's The Grand Grill steakhouse and Bar Lelarge; Umari Spa occupies the old cloisters. Two rooftop pools, Caribbean views over the UNESCO walled city.

The 1960 Astir Palace on the Athens Riviera, rebranded Four Seasons in 2019 — 303 keys across 30 hectares (200 rooms, 42 suites, 61 villas and bungalows) with Meyer Davis interiors and Thomas Doxiadis landscape. Eight kitchens including Martin Brudnizki's Mercato and Pelagos and K Studio's HELIOS and Taverna 37; three private beaches, hydrotherapy spa, tennis academy. Thirty minutes from both the airport and central Athens.

Bensley Design Studios' 71-villa cliffside property opened February 2007 on Koh Samui's northwest tip — built on a former coconut orchard with 856 of the original trees retained, every hillside villa carrying a private infinity pool over the Gulf. Pla Pla (seafood and grilled meats) anchors the dining; Sumalee Khunpet runs the regional Thai program at KOH Thai Kitchen. The Secret Garden Spa pulls techniques from Thai, Yogic and broader Asian traditions; an in-house marine biologist runs the Coral Conservation Project.

Bill Bensley's 16-tent camp at the Ruak-Mekong confluence where Thailand, Burma and Laos meet — opened January 2006, built around the Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation that the camp helped launch. 19th-century-expedition aesthetic with handcrafted furniture, hardwood floors and thatched roofs; Nong Yao runs Thai-Lao-Burmese cooking, the Burma Bar pours signature lemongrass martinis. Two-room open-air spa platform anchored on the Mahout Recovery treatment.

Robert Glazier's 96-key resort opened June 2024 on the last remaining beachfront stretch of the Golden Corridor — a contemporary hacienda built by Meyer Davis (interiors) and EDG (restaurant architecture), with 61 residences and villas alongside the hotel rooms. Eight kitchens led by Richard Sandoval, who runs the Nikkei tasting menu Cayao plus the Coraluz beach club and Sora rooftop. Tierra Mar Spa draws on Kumiai tribe traditions; the original Tom Weiskopf course (now Fry/Straka-renovated) wraps the property. November to April the ocean loungers face the gray-whale migration line.

Guerin Glass Architects' East Cape resort opened 2019 inside the Costa Palmas master plan — TAL Studios on rooms, Jon Brent Design on the public spaces, with seven kitchens including estiatorio Milos (Mediterranean seafood), Mozza Baja, and the El Puesto crudo bar. Robert Trent Jones II Costa Palmas Golf Club, a private marina, two miles of swimmable beach on the Sea of Cortez (the "aquarium of the world"), and a 15,855 sq ft Oasis Spa with Tata Harper and a Rossano Ferretti salon.

Richard Meier's 2017 hotel-and-residences project wrapped around Russell Pancoast's 1930 Surf Club — 77 hotel rooms, 25 hotel residences and 156 private apartments on a 9-acre Collins Avenue beachfront. Joseph Dirand did everything inside: bedrooms, public spaces, spa, restaurants. Two of those restaurants are Thomas Keller's The Surf Club Restaurant (continental) and Marco Calenzo's Lido (Italian); the spa runs a traditional hammam. Fernando Wong handled the landscape.

César Pelli's 125-suite all-suite tower atop Capital Place on Gatot Subroto, opened 2016 — Alexandra Champalimaud interiors throughout, Bill Bensley landscape. Lorenzo Sollecito runs the patisserie program from Palm Court; the 20th-floor Italian Alto and the Nautilus craft cocktail room hold the dining bench. The poolside venue takes 1,200 guests for events — the largest in Jakarta. 8-room spa with two couples' suites, salon, barber and nail bar.
