The Celestine Kyoto Gion

We had a beautiful stay at The Celestine Kyoto Gion. The location is perfect – tucked away in the quiet streets of Gion, yet close enough to explore temples, traditional alleys and lovely cafés on foot. The atmosphere feels calm and refined, with a strong sense of Kyoto’s heritage throughout the design. The rooms were spotless, comfortable and thoughtfully designed, with everything we needed after long days exploring. The onsen-style bath was a real highlight and such a relaxing experience in the evenings. Service was warm, professional and genuinely welcoming. The breakfast was excellent, with a great mix of Japanese and Western options, all beautifully presented. It’s an ideal hotel for couples wanting a peaceful, elegant base in Kyoto. We would happily stay here again.

Highly recommend staying at this hotel if you want a higher end experience. The rooms were very generously sized for Japan travel and the amenities were top-notch! If staying here, you need to try their traditional onsen bath, it was highlight of my family’s stay. The breakfast buffet was delicious and priced fairly. The hotel is located in close walking distance to higashiyama (old town Kyoto) and lots of delicious restaurants nearby. We were able to easily book taxis to visit a few shopping places we wanted to see and other sights like Arashiyama that were not available via walking. The staff were kind and accommodating, most spoke English very well too. The hotel shuttle bus to Kyoto station was super helpful and an easy experience as well.

An absolutely exceptional stay at The Celestine Kyoto Gion. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was on another level. We were warmly seated during check in and offered a hot towel and a comforting cup of matcha tea, which immediately made us feel relaxed after a long day. What truly impressed us was the personalized service. The staff personally escorted us to our room and patiently explained every feature inside, from the lighting controls to the bathroom amenities. It was thoughtful and detailed, and made us feel genuinely cared for. The room itself was very spacious by Kyoto standards, beautifully designed and extremely comfortable. Everything felt refined yet cozy. This is Japanese hospitality at its finest. Highly recommended and we would definitely return again.

We have just spent 3 amazing days exploring Kyoto and a true highlight of our time was our stay at the Celestine. A beautiful hotel with staff to match. The rooms have a really lovely and peaceful feel to them with a very thoughtful layout. The area is lovely and quiet but so close to more bustling parts of Kyoto with many restaurants at your doorstep. The hotel shuttle to and from Kyoto train station was an added bonus. The breakfast also outstanding. We will stay here again on our return to Kyoto!
